General Election 2015

With the General Election looming, Labour have set out their plans for the housing market should they win on the 7th May. With many Conservative-led policies coming under fire for boosting the demand for homes beyond available supply and consequently pushing prices higher, Labour are looking to launch a new stamp duty scheme for first-time buyers.

Under the proposed scheme first-time buyers purchasing a property for under £300,000 would be exempt from paying stamp duty, saving them £5,000.
