LIVE DONATES £1000 TO CHILDLINE

10th May 2006

Thanks to Live, the UK’s leading provider of residential conveyancing, children’s charity ChildLine has come out best in a World Cup warm-up clash between the heavyweights of the northern property market this week.

It may have appeared to be just a friendly game of football on a sunny Spring afternoon, but the stakes were far higher than usual, with leading estate agents out to raise as much money as possible for ChildLine.

Live clients, Hunters Property Group challenged their northern colleagues and also Live clients, the Home Sale Network, to put their best 11 forward in a bid to do something different for the charity - and have raised more than £2,500 as a result.

The teams, made up of players from towns across northern England, met on Burnley FC pitch for the charity match. Home Sale Network came out clear winners scoring eight goals and a penalty.

Suggested Live quote from Tim Price sales and marketing director, “Live has always supported charities and when the opportunity to raise funds for Childline presented itself alongside the chance to support two of our established clients we were over the moon. Whatever the result on the pitch we knew that Childline would be the winners on the day”

Richard Tucker, Managing Director of Home Sales Network, said: “The sun shone all day and it was a fantastic match. There were some excellent individual performances and a great team spirit on both sides. We’d really like to thank all of our players from Pettys, Mortimers, Pygott & Crone, Dale Eddison, Larards and Beaumonts, and to all those companies who sponsored so generously. In particular, Live, who not only donated £1,000 but also sponsored a prize (what was this?) for the raffle.”

Keith Hollinrake, Joint Chief Executive of Hunters Property Group, says: “What a fantastic day! The Hunters team was a collective effort with employees from across our northern offices pulling together to have some fun for the kids. We didn’t win on the day, but we had a fantastic time with our friends from the Home Sale Network, and with help from companies such as Live raised lots of money for the children’s’ telephone counselling service.”

“We practiced frantically and even had a former professional player in our midst, but the Home Sale Network team were just too good on the day! It was really some good old-fashioned fun; a great team building event with a chance to raise money for a worthwhile cause.”

ChildLine is the UK’s free, 24-hour helpline for children in danger or distress, and relies almost exclusively on public donations for the £14 million a year it requires to operate. Anyone wanting to donate to ChildLine can do so at any Hunters branch or via the ChildLine website www.childline.org.uk.
